The Transfiguration Chapel- Close to Nature, Closer to God

Rising tall and majestic in the highest point of Caleruega is the Transfiguration Chapel. From here one can behold the expanse of Caleruega and witness the glorious opus of radiant nature – a symphony of sky, trees, and the distant hills of Batulao. Like St. Peter during Jesus’ transfiguration, anyone who experiences such splendor of nature’s poetry will declare: Lord, it is good for us to be here… (Matthew.17:4).

When we had our ocular survey last March 2004, Jude told me that he once seen his wife to be but only in a dream. ” Nakatalikod yung babae sa panaginip ko at mahaba ang buhok niya.” When we got to see the place together, he realized that it was me daw, which he had dreamt about (owss…). Ako naman on my part, it was only my first time to see that soulful place, I told to myself before that I don’t want a huge church for my wedding, I want it to be just spacious to fill all the pew with my guests. In short, I want it to be exclusive. No one else, only us and our special someones. September 6, 2004 after an overnight party in Chen’s mansion at Tagaytay we went next to Caleruega. Over a year advance to our said date, we already made a reservation.

  • Eternity Ring

flo_629.jpgflo_049.jpgflo_1807.jpgflo_1811.jpg

“I give you this ring as a sign of my ETERNAL LOVE & LOYALTY, and with my heart I pledge to you all that I am. My love, like this ring, has NO END. In the name of the father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

  • The Bridal Gown

FYI: My personal gown was use in a bridal exhibit held at SM North EDSA and SM Megamall
The Bridal Gownflo_300.jpg

It’s easy to confuse fabrics with fabric finishes. The finish is what the cloth feels and looks like after it’s woven. Most bridal fabrics (both natural and man-made) can be woven into the wide variety of finishes described below.

These were the bridal fabrics made possible to my own gown, principal and secondary sponsors.  Ofcourse mine was beaded by swarovski crystals

Charmeuse (SHAR-moose) A lightweight version of satin with a softer and more clingy look. Charmeuse is a common finish with silk or rayon and has less body than traditional silk finishes.

Chiffon (SHI-fon) A transparent, lightweight fabric finish, chiffon may be made from just about any fabric. It is often layered and has an unusual luster.

Net, illusion or tulle (pronounced “tool”) This mesh-like fabric is most often woven from synthetic fibers. A recent fad saw several designers adding tulle skirts to their gown designs. Varying weaves can increase or decrease the weight of this finish.

Shantung  Originally known as wild (or natural) silk, this finish has a rougher, nubby appearance — but not as course as dupioni. Once associated exclusively with silk fabrics, shantung is now seen as a finish for man-made fabrics as well.

FYI:  My personal gown was use in a bridal fair exhibit held at SM North EDSA and SM Megamall.

  • The Bouquet & Boutannaire

flo_232.jpgflo_1546.jpgAmong spring’s first flowers, rare Orange Emperor Tulips are truly royal classics and a special favourite from Holland! Huge, chalice-shaped blooms have glowing orange petals with a pale yellow base inside and measure up to 10″ wide when fully opened. Emperors make a bold, dramatic focal point in every grandiose occasion, such as my wedding.

FYI

Did you know that ……

  • Tulips must be planted in the late fall or in early winter
  • You can grow tulips under deciduous trees where it’s too shady for bloom later
  • Plant food should be applied above the bulbs-but not where it can touch them-and be well watered in
  • Tulips do best in a loose, well-drained soil
  • You can increase your plantings by lifting and dividing original bulbs when out of bloom

  • If you water them early when buds are ris. ing, you’ll get larger blooms, and taller stems?

  •  The Unity Coins

flo_1242.jpgThe ceremony of passing of the arras from the groom to the bride has been an integral part of every Filipino wedding. This symbolic ritual has been passed on to us by our Spanish colonizers. Thus, we Pinoys found a perfect reason to add another little boy to the wedding party — the Coin Bearer!

The thriteen (13) coins in the arrhae represent Jesus Christ and His apostles. These coins traditionally symbolize the ability of the groom to support his wife and confirm his postion as the ‘breadwinner of the family’ in the marriage. It also came to symbolize wealth and prosperity for the newlyweds and their future family.

Each coin in the Unity Coins set has a unique design, representing one of thirteen universal tenets of marriage:

~:~ Love ~:~ Harmony ~:~ Cooperation ~:~ Commitment ~:~
~:~ Peace ~:~ Happiness ~:~ Trust ~:~ Respect ~:~ Caring ~:~
~:~ Wisdom ~:~ Joy ~:~ Wholeness ~:~ Nurturing ~:~

The symbolic use of coins in a wedding ceremony is a tradition in many different religions, cultures & countries. The unique designs of the Unity Coins have influences from all over the world, including the “Celtic Marriage Knot” (which is on the backside of each coin), the Adinkra (Asante people of Ghana and Ivory Coast) symbol for Wisdom, and the Chinese Yin & Yang, to name a few.

  • Unity Candle

The become one and a new generation begins. It further symbolizes the union of two lives creating ONE FLAME for not TWO but ONE LOVE, enlightened by the light of God, which will guide our family.

  • Veil and Cord Ceremony

flo_643.jpg  flo_583.jpg

Now ONE BODY, ONE HEART and ONE SOUL, each complementing the other, sharing life’s joys and sorrows, and drawing strength ffrom one another.

flo_649.jpg flo_647.jpgAt Baptism, Jude and Crystal were clothed then with white garments symbolizing a new life of purity and joy in the Lord. Also the veil, is the symbol of God’s presence over the covenant between us.

flo_570.jpg flo_573.jpgThe cord is the symbol of infinite bond of faithful love and oneness, both as gift and a shared responsibility.

  •  Presentation of the Bible

flo_541.jpgAll  Scriptures comes from the breath of God and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the mand and woman of God may thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

  • Juan Carlo, the Caterer

flo_2071.jpgflo_2058.jpgflo_0978.jpgflo_2010.jpgflo_0910.jpgIt was a tough decision to make on whom to choose, Steve of Tamayo’s Catering or Engr. Alex of Juan Carlo. There were both great caterers, serving delightful main entrees, appetizers and thirst quenchers for wonderous occasion. Tamayo’s was our first choice ‘coz Jude worked there for 2 years. Aside for the taste itself we also need to consider the travel time of the food. Caleruega’s vicinity is at Nasugbu, Batangas, a 500m away from Tagaytay City.  Juan Carlo won the battle, after we set a food tasting at Fernwood Gardens and close the deal at a Bridal Fair held at The Fort last May 6, 2005.

  • The Bridal Car

flo_1675.jpgflo_1679.jpgflo_374.jpg
Some History of the 1965 Jaguar MkII Saloon

Capable of 125mph in overdrive in 3.8 litre 220bhp form, 0-60 came up in an impressive 8.5 seconds.

Sticking true to the Jaguar moto of ‘grace, pace and space’, the Mk Jag’ was stunning and swift saloon. The 3.8L option used an engine very similar to that in the XKE E-Type Jaguar, albeit with a different inlet manifold, giving the MkII 30hp less than the E-Type, but still enough for stunningly quick preformance. The 2.5L option used an engine from the Daimler V8 that had been previously borrowed form the Daimler SP250 (also known as the Daimler Dart), this engine was particularly light and improved the cars handling characteristics significantly.

  • The Officiating Priest

flo_668.jpg

Father Edgardo B. Alaurin O.P., is the former vice-rector of Colegio De San Juan De Letran and ex-athletic moderator of Jude. At present Fr. Ed is the head chaplain of the famous University of Santo Tomas. He is my husband’s personal choice. At first Fr. Ed declined our request because just in case he said “yes,” he will be coming all the way from Bicol. So, as part of the deal, we are going to purchase him a return ticket so he won’t be missed spending his Christmas Holiday at his native province.

  • The EAC Chorale

flo_472.jpg

We passed by Paco Church for a visit. Accidentally there was an ongoing wedding ceremony when I heard the soulful voice of this choir. Jonathan Vargas, the music director (one who he is playing the organ) was sitting at the fountain side when we asked the name of the chorale. We don’t know then, that he is the person we are  looking for to ask for some minor details. I didn’t tell him where would the wedding venue be held. ‘Coz I’m afraid that it will be too costly for the group since Caleruega is considered far from Manila. When we arrived home, I texted him the wedding details. To my suprise, he gave me a very good deal. As he also wanted to bring his talents at Caleruega for a chance of a lifetime.
